Aidan Turner is an Irish actor who is popularly known for playing the role of Kili in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. He is also known for portraying the role of Captain Ross Poldark in the British drama series Poldark.

He made his debut in television by performing on the first episode of The Tudors with an uncredited appearance in 2007.  From 2008 to 2009, he played the recurring role of The Clinic. In 2009, he portrayed the role of  Dante Gabriel Rossetti in  Desperate Romantics.

Moreover, he also made his appearance in the supernatural drama program Being Human during the first three series where he played as vampire John Mitchell from 2009 to 2011.

Aidan also has done several movies. He commenced his film career in 2007 by playing two short films, The Sound of People and Matterhorn. Later, he appeared as Mal in the thriller feature film Alarm (2008).

Furthermore, Aidan came into the limelight after portraying the role of dwarf Kíli in The Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014). The film series was based on The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. He also received the Empire Award for Best Male Newcomer for the second film in the series, The Desolation of Smaug.

In 2015, he played the title role of Ross Poldark in the 2015 revival of the BBC series. In 2016, he received the “Impact Award”  at the National Television Awards ceremony for his performance in Poldark.

In 2023, he played the lead role of Glenn Lapthorne in the television series Fifteen-Love.

 “Apparently it was common law at the time that when you were scything you had to take your top off. So I did,”

He also admitted that was a bit strange that BBC used it for promotion.
